Commentary
The verse gathers several mutually reinforcing qualities into a portrait of the person whom prosperity does not abandon. Advaidhamanasam describes a mind without division or wavering, while yuktam suggests one who is composed, focused and properly engaged. Shuram names courage, dhiram adds steadiness and fortitude, and vipashcitam points to discernment—the wisdom to see clearly before acting. Prosperity, shri, is thus presented not as a matter of chance alone but as something that remains with a person whose inner clarity and outward conduct support one another. The closing image makes the bond vivid: just as rays belong with the sun and continually issue from it, prosperity accompanies this integrated character. The comparison does not reduce prosperity to money; shri can also suggest flourishing, good fortune and excellence. Its practical teaching is that durable success rests on a combination of clear purpose, brave action, constancy and sound judgment rather than on any one quality in isolation.
