Commentary
Skandamata is the mother of Skanda, but this short verse does not depict the child or describe her lion mount. Simhasanagata ordinarily says that she is seated upon a throne; the supplied meaning follows familiar iconography by rendering it as seated on a lion. The next compound associates both hands with lotuses without specifying their exact pose. The closing epithets praise her as glorious and as a giver of good. Skanda in her lap, additional arms, gestures, and the lion belong to the wider devotional image rather than the wording quoted here.
