Commentary

The verse lists eight qualities of dhī, a mature and effective intellect. It begins with śuśrūṣā, the desire to listen and learn, then moves through attentive hearing, comprehension, retention, reasoning, rejection of error, understanding of meaning, and knowledge of principle. Intelligence is presented as a disciplined process rather than quick cleverness. The post applies these human capacities to artificial intelligence and technology. Its point is that technical systems serve people best when their design and use remain guided by listening, judgment, discrimination, and an understanding of consequences.
