Commentary
This subhashita defines true education not merely as the accumulation of information, but as the transformation of character. It lists six essential virtues: 'Shila' (conduct), 'Parahitasaktih' (devotion to others' welfare), 'Anutsekah' (absence of pride), 'Kshama' (forgiveness), 'Dhritih' (patience), and 'Alobha' (non-greed). According to the verse, these are the 'Paripaka' or the fully ripened, and 'Ujjvalam', or bright, fruits of 'Vidya' (knowledge). If learning does not result in these ethical qualities, it remains incomplete. In the context of public service, these virtues represent the ideal mindset of a servant-leader devoted to the common good.
