Commentary
This verse from Bharavi's Kiratarjuniya draws a sharp contrast between sahasā, impulsive haste, and vimṛśya-kāritā, action taken after careful reflection. It warns that aviveka, lack of discernment, is not a small weakness but the very doorway to serious danger. The second half gives the teaching a positive turn: prosperity and success are naturally drawn toward the person whose actions are guided by thought, character, and good judgment. In the context of the Prime Minister's message, the verse becomes a reminder that decisive action does not mean hurried action. Patience, foresight, and विवेक give strength to every decision, whether personal, social, or national. Thoughtful action is shown here not as hesitation, but as the disciplined foundation on which lasting success is built.
