Commentary
Traditionally recited as an invocation with the Isha and Brihadaranyaka Upanishads, this mantra expresses the Vedantic vision of pūrṇa, absolute wholeness. “That” and “this” are both complete because all manifestation arises within Brahman rather than outside it. Removing the complete from the complete leaves completeness: the language is contemplative, pointing beyond ordinary arithmetic to a reality that is undivided even while appearing as multiplicity. The post applies this image to knowledge and technology, where sharing an idea need not diminish its source and may enlarge collective understanding. That is a useful modern analogy, but the mantra's primary subject is metaphysical wholeness, not artificial intelligence or information economics.
