Commentary
The verse identifies the conditions under which shri, prosperity, becomes steady: an energetic undertaking, freedom from laziness, and the conjunction of naya with vikrama. Naya means policy, prudent conduct, or sound guidance, while vikrama is valor or decisive exertion. The supplied meaning substitutes patriotism, humility, sacrifice, and service to the nation for these terms; those ideas belong to the post's application and are not a translation of the Sanskrit. The Panchatantra's maxim is more compact: where energetic action, diligence, prudent policy, and valor meet, prosperity remains firm.
