Commentary
This Rigvedic verse addresses Usha, the Dawn, who shines over the whole luminous realm with her rays. The Kanvas, desiring wealth, call to her with songs. It does not speak of a generic woman, the removal of ignorance, honoring women, or noble feminine virtues. The supplied meaning and its women's-empowerment application move from the feminine personification of Dawn to contemporary social praise; that connection may be meaningful in the post's context, but it is not a translation of the mantra. The text's own image is simpler: Dawn's radiance, the singers' invocation, and their stated desire for wealth.
